Many
people are experiencing the benefits of using music to
aid their learning. Baroque music, largely composed in
the period 1700-1750, is widely used. There are many
different forms and composers of Baroque. We find that
Baroque 'table music' is a style that appears to be
popular for assisting learning.
"It
appears that the Baroque composers, attempting to create
an ideal mathematical form and harmony in their music,
managed to produce exactly the right frequency and sound
to harmonise the functioning of the brain and produce a
state of calm, relaxed alertness."

Stretch Learning conducted
some research at a tertiary college in the South of
England where they discovered that 89% of the students
used music (any music) to assist them while studying at
home. However, 100% of the lecturers did not recognise
or indeed use music as an aid to learning.
